HView — Privacy Policy

Last updated: 02.10.2026

HView is a home screen (launcher) app for Android TV. The developer runs a server to manage licences and subscriptions. HView never asks for your name, e-mail or an account. It does not sell what it collects or use it for advertising.

Information that stays on your device

The following are kept only in the app's storage on your device and are deleted when you uninstall the app:

  • your favorites
  • hidden apps
  • custom names
  • theme, module choices and wallpaper
  • chosen city

Licence

On first start HView registers itself with our server and learns its trial period, subscription state and end date from it. For this it sends:

  • a one-way digest (hash) of your device's Android ID. The raw ID is never sent or stored.
  • a random installation ID generated by the app
  • the device model and Android version

The server also records when the device last connected. The server gives the device a random ID and the six-character support code you see on screen. The support code exists only so that we can find your device when you contact us.

Purchases

Subscriptions are sold through Google Play. Google takes the payment, and your card details never reach us. To verify a subscription our server receives and stores:

  • the purchase token
  • Google's order number
  • the subscription's state and end date
  • the country code of the purchase

The purchase carries the device's random ID, not your Google account. Google does not give us your name or e-mail. You manage and cancel your subscription in Google Play.

Usage data

At most once a day HView sends our server:

  • the app version
  • the selected theme
  • which modules are on
  • whether the device is a low-memory device
  • how many times the app crashed since the last report (a count only; no error details are sent)

This is tied to the device's random ID, not to a person. We use it to see which versions are in use, which features are useful and whether a release causes crashes. Daily records are deleted after 13 months.

What we do not collect

  • your name, e-mail or Google account
  • your location
  • your IP address: it is not written to our database. It stays in the server's access logs for at most 7 days for security, then is deleted
  • the list of apps on your device
  • your viewing history
  • screen content

Weather (optional)

When the weather module is on, HView sends Open-Meteo (open-meteo.com) directly:

  • the city name you type when searching for a city
  • the latitude and longitude of the city you pick for the forecast

No location permission is requested and the device's location is never read. These requests use HTTPS and Open-Meteo's own terms apply. When the module is off, no requests are made.

Content rows (optional)

When this module is on and you allow it, HView reads other apps' "Watch next" and recommendation channels from Android's TV provider and only shows them on screen. This information never leaves your device. Card images are downloaded from the address given by the app that published them.

Home button module (optional, Google TV only)

This module uses an accessibility service. The service only notices when the Google TV home screen appears and brings HView to the front. It does not read screen content and does not collect or send any data.

Third-party libraries

Google's Play Billing library is used for purchases. There are no advertising, analytics or crash-reporting libraries. Google Play's Android Vitals may separately collect crash and freeze data according to your device settings.

Retention and deletion

Device, licence and purchase records are kept while the service runs and for legal retention periods. If you have an active subscription, cancel it in Google Play before asking for deletion; otherwise Google keeps charging you. To ask for your usage data to be deleted or to access your information, write to us with the support code shown on your screen.

Website and contact form

This website uses only the cookies it needs to work, and has no analytics or advertising (see the Cookie policy). If you use the contact form, the name, e-mail address, subject, message and, if you entered it, the support code are stored so that we can answer you, and are passed on to our support mailbox. Your IP address is not stored with that record. You can ask for these records to be deleted at any time.

Children

HView is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect data from children.
